PAV – Phone A Vet

Phone a Vet leads the path to affordable and convenient veterinarian advice in Australia.

How could we facilitate a secure and efficient consultation between a veterinarian and a patient?

I designed a simple and intuitive solution to satisfy the user and business needs.

Who is it for?

Phone a Vet is designed for pet owners and farmers to more conveniently access high quality, affordable veterinary advice. The vet app is designed for veterinarians to manage their consultation requests.

Problems

Phone a Vet adopts a marketplace model that brings veterinarians and patients together, therefore, creating a secure and simple booking process is essential. The product needs to be reliable and intuitive in facilitating teleconferencing and virtual communication.

Ideation & Exploration

Upon further research on the target market and conducting usability analysis on successful marketplace platform like Uber, I jotted down some ideas and explored different strategies to optimise the user flow.

Below is the user flow (user app) that I developed – focusing on optimising the steps of the booking process.

Low-Fi Wireframes that were developed to conduct user testing on before continuing to Hi-Fi Wireframes.

Solutions

A simple and straight forward booking process that allows users to quickly connect with a veterinarian. An intuitive tab system that enables users and veterinarians to view concern details and chat room during the consultation period.

A Fully Immersive Experience

The focus behind my design thinking was to ensure the functionalities of the app are highlighted. I implemented considered visual elements such as colour choices, icons and illustrations. Applying Phone a Vet's colour identity, I used blue as the background colour and green to enforce primary activities in the app.

About PAV

Phone a Vet is a marketplace platform that offers a convenient and affordable way for pet owners and farmers to speak with Australian registered veterinarians.

The main goal is to build an easy-to-use platform that quickly connects pet owners with veterinarians.

How does it work?

The platform allows users to find registered veterinarians in Australia. When a session is requested, all online veterinarians will be notified through push notifications. Veterinarians will be able to review the pet and concern details before deciding to accept a request. After a session request is accepted, user will be notified to join a session room through in-app notifications and push notifications. The teleconferencing call (supported by Twillio) will be initiated by the vet once both parties are in the session room. Once the session is completed, both parties will be asked to give ratings and reviews (optional). Additionally, users and veterinarians are able to see the details of their past sessions.
